Due to ongoing renovations at Teaneck Library, the Eco Book Club will be held at Teaneck Creek Conservancy at 20 Puffin Way in Teaneck. This month, we will be holding our meeting outdoors in our Peace Labyrinth!
Join Eco Book Club hosted by Teaneck Creek Conservancy and Teaneck Public Library! Eco Book Club is a wonderful gathering of folks who share a love of nature and care for the earth. All are welcome to join in the friendly conversation at our monthly meetings or read along at home.
For the second month now, we're excited to begin our meeting out in nature! Join us at 6:30pm for a nature walk before the book discussion. We’ll take a mini-hike through Teaneck Creek Conservancy, exploring signs of hope in the world around us—whether it's new growth, wildlife returning, or the positive results of recent restoration efforts. It's a great way to connect with the themes of the book and experience nature firsthand.
Please remember to wear weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear for the walk. Bring binoculars if you have them—though it won’t be a bird-focused walk, they could enhance your experience.
Then, at 7pm, we’ll gather for the book discussion.
The Human Cosmos is about how our deep, ancient connection to the night sky shaped human civilization—and what we've lost by turning away from it. Jo Marchant traces our relationship with the stars across cultures and time, from Paleolithic cave art to Polynesian navigation and modern astrophysics. As artificial light and digital life obscure the cosmos, she argues that reconnecting with the sky can restore awe, meaning, and insight into what it means to be human.
