Location Details
Description of location:
The Teaneck Creek Conservancy has a rich history of public and community Eco-Art; art inspired by nature within Teaneck Creek Park. The Park is both a nature conservancy and an Eco-art destination. The goal of our Eco-Art program is to foster discovery and thoughtfulness about the natural world among our community and visitors.
Past Eco-Art projects (https://www.teaneckcreek.org/ecoart-gallery) have revealed the centuries long environmental and cultural histories of this 46 acre urban forested wetland, from its early Lenape inhabitants, through its degradation and now to its rehabilitation and re-storying.
Location: Approximately 2,000 square feet, located at the intersection of Teaneck Road, adjacent to Englewood Health Physician Network offices.
Setback: The Teaneck Road property setback is estimated at approximately 10 feet from the right-of-way (ROW). Final setback dimensions may vary depending on the proposed structure or artwork.
Existing Conditions
Vegetation: Approximately 80% of the site is covered in tall grass. The area was not tilled or excavated during the prior restoration project.
Soils: Site soils are presumed to be landfill material and may contain buried construction debris. Debris is not anticipated to be hazardous.
Access and Circulation
Primary Access: Entry is provided through a chain-link fence gate located on Teaneck Road. Access is controlled by Parks, which retains the key. Renovation or replacement of the gate is deferred to a future project.
Construction Access: Access leads from the gate to an asphalt path with an approximate slope of 25%. There is a grade change of approximately 10 feet between the roadbed and the upper portion of the site. This elevation change occurs within a horizontal run of approximately 40 feet (based on Google Earth measurement).
Adjacent Conditions
Vegetation and Property Boundaries: Large trees are located approximately 10 feet inside the neighboring property line along the western edge of the site. These trees are not anticipated to interfere with proposed installation activities.

About the Conservancy
Teaneck Creek Conservancy stewards a 46-acre forested wetland that is the "wild" section of Overpeck County Park in the Bergen County Park System. Before its existence as a park, Teaneck Creek was the staging ground for the construction of Routes 80 and 95. The park consists 1.3 miles of trails, an outdoor classroom, and ecological art exhibits that make this oasis unlike any other. Teaneck Creek provides educational opportunities and passive recreational amenities to the surrounding communities. These activities include environmental education programs, birding courses, nature tours, school field trips, ecological art workshops, volunteer actions, and park maintenance.Recently, Bergen County completed a habitat restoration within the park. This project restored twenty acres of freshwater wetlands and forested riparian habitat in a dense urban environment.
