Falkland Islands and South Georgia: Antarctic Wildlife Spectacular by Kevin Watson. They may be Earth’s greatest but least-known wildlife destination: the remote Falkland Islands and South Georgia are the breeding and nesting grounds for many of the bird and mammal species that inhabit the rich but stormy waters surrounding Antarctica. We’ll see glacial plains filled with countless thousands of King Penguins, majestic albatrosses gliding a few feet overheard, huge Elephant Seals battling on the beaches, and much more. Join photographer Kevin Watson for an unforgettable wildlife voyage to the other end of the Earth!
Kevin Watson is a local birder and photographer. He and nature writer Jim Wright are co-authors of the coffee-table book “Hawk Mountain: the World’s First Raptor Sanctuary” about the world-famous hawk watching site in Pennsylvania, and his photographs have appeared in many local and national magazines. He may sometimes be seen skulking around the Allendale Celery Farm, but has been known to travel further afield. He is particularly fond of South American, with many stamps in his passport from Ecuador, Peru and Childe, but his quest for birds and photographs has also taken him to Iceland, Japan, India, Bhutan, and even Garret Mountain. Born in London, he now lives in Bergen County, NJ.
