Non Profit Organizations:
Teaneck Creek Conservancy: The Teaneck Creek Conservancy is a 46-acre tract that is now a part of Overpeck County Park. Once used as a dump for debris generated during the construction of the nearby interstate highways, the area has been rehabilitated and a trail system constructed. For the most part, the dense vegetation screens the adjacent developments from view, and even the noise from the nearby highways is often drowned out by the chirping birds. At times, it is hard to believe that you are in the midst of densely developed Bergen County!

Hackensack Riverkeeper: Hackensack Riverkeeper Inc. is a non-profit public interest organization with the mission of protecting, preserving and restoring the Hackensack River Watershed. Public education outreach programs offered by Riverkeeper are the Eco-Cruise program, which is a two to three hour boat tour of the estuary commonly known as the Meadowlands; and the Canoe Project, located at Laurel Hill County Park in Secaucus.

NY/NJ Trail Conference: The New York-New Jersey Trail Conference maintains over 2100 miles of trails in the New York metropolitan area.

AMC: The Appalachian Mountain Club is your connection to the outdoors. With chapters from Maine to D.C., enjoy outdoor activities and learn new outdoor skills.

Hackensack Greenway: We are the *Friends of the Hackensack River Greenway through Teaneck*. Throughout the year, we plan hikes, lectures, trips, cleanups and various activities. Most are free. We help maintain, and promote passive recreation on the 3.5 mile Greenway and trails in Teaneck, along the Hackensack River. We are a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization; all contributions are tax deductible to the full extent of the law. We are run by volunteers, supported only by dues and donations.

Fycke Nature Association: The Fyke Nature Association offers educational programs, field trips, and co-manages the Celery Farm nature preserve in northern New Jersey.

MEVO: MEVO Fresh Roots Farm, a two-acre community based educational farm, located within the preserved forests of Campgaw Mountain Reservation in Mahwah, NJ. The Fresh Roots Farm is a community built and managed productive agricultural operation which contains a permaculture food forest, sixteen bee hive apiary, one acre raised bed fruits and vegetable market garden, large scale compost space, a 4 season greenhouse and refrigerator built out of 80% recycled materials, and a reused and recycled bulk material storage and tool area.

NJ Highlands Coalition: The mission of the NJ Highlands Coalition is to protect, restore, and enhance the water and other natural and cultural resources of the New Jersey Highlands for the benefit of all citizens and businesses in the state of NJ.
• Safeguarding the water resources, ecological integrity, and biodiversity of the New Jersey Highlands.
• Promoting the development and implementation of a strongly protective Highlands Regional Master Plan.
• Ensuring strict enforcement of the NJ DEP’s Highlands Water Protection and Planning Act, and other regulations.
• Increasing local, state, federal and private sources of funding for land conservation and stewardship in the region, and promoting better planning, growth management and land acquisition strategies.
• Educating the public and decision-makers on, and serving as an information source for, New Jersey Highlands preservation issues.
• Mobilizing individuals and organizations into a strong alliance to protect, preserve and enhance the New Jersey Highlands.
