This week’s highlighted visitor: The American bullfrog!
This frog is found in ponds, marshes, and quiet streams, American Bullfrogs are large, green amphibians with deep, booming calls. These slow-moving creatures sit motionless on the water’s edge, waiting for insects or small fish to pass by before leaping with surprising speed to catch their prey. Their deep, resonant croaks echo across the water, a familiar sound on warm summer nights as they call to attract mates or defend their territory.
Frogs are more frequently found in the northern portion of the park - check along the tributaries of the Creek for your best chances of seeing them.
