This week’s highlighted visitor: The Monarch Butterfly!

A butterfly you can spot in gardens and fields, Monarchs are vibrant insects with striking orange and black wings. These delicate fliers glide gracefully from flower to flower, sipping nectar with their long, slender proboscis. Their unmistakable, slow-flapping flight and distinctive orange-and-black pattern make them a favorite sight during late summer and early fall, when they are migrating thousands of miles to warmer climates.

Teaneck Creek has a pollinator garden tended to by Bergen County Audubon, one of our 2025 Honorees at our Roots & Renewal: A Legacy of Conservation Champagne Brunch on June 1. Be sure to check out their Pollinator Garden at the Puffin Way entrance.
